2007 SF Regional Air Guitar Championship

Next up were the solid performances of Tiger Claw and Judas Priestess. It should be noted, though, that Tiger Claw's rock-classical song selection allowed him to show off his amazing technical skills.

2008 SF Regional Air Guitar Championship

Tiger Claw (in classic red, tiger-striped spandex), came close to the greatness of his appearance the year before, but still had the best technical skills of anyone that night.

2009 SF Regional Air Guitar Championship

At the end of one performance from a contestant named Tiger Claw, whom judges deemed the "anvil of air guitarists", it came out that Mr. Claw had recently suffered a mild stroke. Whether his decision to perform nonetheless was dedication or insanity is in the eye of the beholder. But this beholder gives major props to Tiger Claw -- way to take one for the air team. We hope he recovers soon.

2011 SF Regional Air Guitar Championship

One performer, competing under the pseudonym Tiger Claw, has been air guitaring for 30 years—basically, ever since he picked up that tennis racket. He does play an actual instrument, though not for very long. Tiger Claw, a.k.a. Dan LaFever, is an investment firm office manager who owns four actual guitars, but knows only two chords and one scale. He usually plays for 10 to 15 minutes at a time, gets frustrated, and instead pops in Van Halen or Iron Maiden, then plucks and strums away at the free air.

TIGER CLAW (Dan LaFever), San Francisco’s Air Guitar zealot with heart and chest plate of gold, in my opinion had his best performance in four years. He’s also the first air guitarist whose Kinkos card line of credit is high enough to print his Legends card on real life glossy cardboard-stock paper. It even smelled like bubblegum.

2012 LA Regional Air Guitar Championship

Tiger Claw literally became the Angel of Death, by the end of Slayer. Word is, Claw and the Angel, regularly hang out, playing drinking games, until the Angel passes out.
